Two vehicles were reported to be on fire which led to a temporary road closure.
The Yukon RCMP has confirmed that two people were injured in the January 8 vehicle collision.
At about 9:30pm on Monday, The RCMP, Yukon emergency Services and the Whitehorse Fire department responded to the incident on the Alaska Highway, near Porter Creek in Whitehorse.
According to the RCMP media release, two vehicles were reported to be on fire which led to a temporary road closure. First responders attended to extinguish the fire, assess injuries and temporarily close the highway to ensure safety to other motorists. The injured two from both vehicles were taken to the hospital for treatment, the release reads.
While the RCMP said it cannot share information about cause of the collision, they have noted that alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The closed road was reopened at 5 a.m. on January 9.
