The YEU calls on the Yukon government to engage in honest, constructive discussions with health care workers and their representatives.
In a media release, the YEU expressed its concern that the Yukon Party government’s bill to amend the Health Authority Act grants the Minister of Health and Social Services unilateral authority to pause or dismantle the implementation of the Act, saying that strong healthcare systems are built on stability and workforce planning.
YEU President Justin Lemphers says in the release that Bill No. 5 delays decision-making while failing to address funding, resources, and staffing concerns within the Yukon’s health care system.

Yukon NDP and Yukon Liberal MLAs have been questioning the Yukon government regarding their plans for the Health Authority in the Yukon Legislative Assembly since the 2026 Spring Sitting began.
