The program is designed to support families struggling with winter electricity bills and is replacing previous rebate programs.
The Government of Yukon is expanding its Affordability Rate Relief program to help residents cope with high electricity costs. From October 2026 to March 2027, the program will cover 25% of electricity charges for the first 1,500 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of monthly usage, up from 1,000 kWh previously.
According to a media release, this translates to savings of up to $106 per month from October to December 2026 and up to $112 per month from January to March 2027, a 131% increase from last winter's relief.
The program is designed to support families struggling with winter electricity bills and is replacing previous rebate programs.
