The RCMP says the updates improve comfort and fit for officerswhile keeping them recognizable
Yukon RCMP officers are getting a new look as part of national uniform updates. Frontline officers across the territory will begin wearing new navy-blue shirts while on duty.
According to a media release Monday, the rollout started nationally in fall 2025 and has now reached Yukon detachments. During the transition, officers may wear either the new navy-blue or the existing greyshirts. Both are approved. A second change allows members to display either their name or regimental number on uniform name tags. Both options meet RCMP policy.
The RCMP says the updates improve comfort and fit for officerswhile keeping them recognizable. The public may see a mix of shirt colours and tag styles during the changeover.
According to Chief Superintendent Lindsay Ellis, Commanding Officer of the Yukon RCMP, “RCMP uniform updates support a modern, effective police service.”
Anyone unsure of an officer’s identity can ask for ID or call the Operational Communications Centre at 867-667-5555
