Downtown Whitehorse is getting a new hotel.

Northern Vision Development says they have partnered with Hyatt Place hotels to build a new 100-room hotel on main street between the Best Western Gold Rush Inn and Sixth Avenue.

The hotel will be the first Hyatt branded establishment in northern Canada. The final designs aren’t finished yet, but Northern Vision Development CEO Rich Thompson told CHONfm the building will be four or five stories tall.

“Hyatt Place Whitehorse will bring a new and dynamic product to the marketplace and is a great example of our continued focus on growing premium hotels that will attract business and leisure travelers alike,” said Hyatt’s regional vice president of development for Canada, Scott Richer in a staement,

“As the first Hyatt hotel in Canada’s North, we are thrilled to collaborate with the Northern Vision Development team on this important project. I want to offer my congratulations and gratitude to everyone at Northern Vision Development who collaborated with us in order to bring this standout development to fruition,” Richer’s statement continues.

The hotel will feature a bar with specialty coffees and premium beers, a full-service restaurant, “The Market” serving meals day and night, event spaces, and a fitness centre.

Hyatt Place Whitehorse is expected to open in early 2024.
