Dr. Hanley announces another death from COVID-19

There are also 19 new infections to report.

Yukon’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Brendan Hanley is reporting one death and 19 new COVID infections.

That makes for a total of six deaths from the pandemic, four of which have happened since June.

The new infections bring the territory’s active case count to 103. Eighteen are in Whitehorse while one is in a rural community and is pending confirmation.

Dr. Hanley said in news release, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of another Yukoner to COVID-19 and I send my condolences to the family. We must also use these hard experiences to reinforce the importance of vaccination as a life saving measure in our fight against COVID-19.”

The territory has had 480 cases since March of last year.

Anyone experiencing symptoms should arrange to get tested.
