Yukon to Review its Min. Wage

Community Services Minister John Streicker says he has tasked the Employment Standards Board with looking at minimum wage trends across the country and best practices for implementing increases.

Community Services Minister John Streicker says he has tasked the Employment Standards Board with looking at minimum wage trends across the country and best practices for implementing increases.

The review is expected to take about six months to complete, and the board will make recommendations about the territory's minimum wage rate and regulations when it is finished.

Yukon's minimum wage currently increases on April 1st every year, according to the Whitehorse Consumer Price Index, and it will go up to 11 dollars and 51 cents this year.
