27% of eligible Whitehorse residents voted in the 2024 municipal election.

On Monday, the City of Whitehorse released a PSA with the official results showing that Kirk Cameron has been elected mayor with 3116 votes. Dan Bushnell was the runner-up with 2206 votes, while Stephen Kwok, Jack Bogaard, and Dino Rudinski trailed behind.
Whitehorse voters also elected a new City Council of Dan Boyd, Paolo Gallina, Jenny Hamilton, Anne Middler, Lenore Morris, and Eileen Melnychuk.
According to the PSA, over 6000 residents voted in this election, representing a 27% voter turnout.
Cameron and the new City Council will be sworn-in to office on November 1. The next municipal election will be in 2028.
Whitehorse wasn’t the only Yukon municipality to hold elections last week.
In Haines Junction, Michael Riseborough was elected mayor. He will be joined by newly elected Councillors Sydney Mackinnon, Deborah Busche, Diane Strand, and Rob McPhie.
In Watson Lake, Lauren Hanchar was elected mayor. Her newly elected council will consist of Thomas Slager, Norma Puckett, William Whimp, and Denina Paquette.
Dawson City has elected Stephen Johnson as mayor, unseating Bill Kendrick. Joining Johnson on council are Cud Eastbound, Justine Hobbs, Darwyn Lynn, and Tobias Graf.
Carmacks has elected Justin Lachance as mayor, but final votes from the community have not yet been certified.
Faro re-elected mayor Jack Bowers, while Mayo, and Teslin have acclaimed their mayors. Each of the communities has elected at least two new councillors.
