Community dialogue sessions, in-depth focus groups, and an online survey will be some of the government's initiatives to improve LGBTQ2S+ inclusion.
Yukon Government is asking for public consultation around LGBTQ2S+ inclusion and Territorial programs and services.
The government will be hosting community dialogues, focus groups and an online survey to initiate the feedback in the coming months and will aim to ensure Territory-wide inclusion and non-discrimination for the LGBTQ2S+ community.
A pre-engagement session was conducted last spring, and Minister Jeanie Dendy says their government is working to ensure all Territorial programs and services are made reflective of all Yukoners.
The Equality of Spouses Statute Law was granted assent in October, which is a first step to modernizing wording in legislation to reflect all sexual orientations and gender identities in Yukon.
Amendments to the Yukon Human Rights and and Vital Statistics Act were made in June of 2017, which ensured protection of the LGBTQ2S+ from discrimination when accessing government services.
