Yukoners seeking to give feedback can do so by going to engageyukon.ca before April 26th.
The Yukon government is currently looking for consultation around implementing a recycling fee for single-use bags.
According to a press release, implementing a fee will help make recycling more financially sustainable in the territory, while simultaneously encourage more Yukoners to use reusable bags.
Feedback can be submitted before April 26th at the Engage Yukon website and Yukon government says previous engagement with Yukoners showed significant support for keeping shopping bags out of the environment and landfills.
Minister of Community Services John Streicker says Yukon Government spends around six million dollars every year to tackle waste in the territory, and that the surcharge will make recycling more sustainable.
Earlier last year all members of the Legislative Assembly agreed to eliminate the distribution of single-use plastics in the years ahead, including plastic bags, straws and utensils.
