Police say that two of the three occupants of the vehicle were able to make it out of the vehicle safely.
Whitehorse RCMP are investigating after a vehicle drove into Lake Laberge on Saturday.
In a media release, police say that a group of people using two vehicles were ice fishing on Lake Laberge when one drove into open water with three occupants inside.
According to the release, only two occupants were able to make it out of the vehicle safely. In an update on Monday, RCMP confirmed that the third person had been located and recovered late Sunday afternoon.
Whitehorse RCMP will not be releasing details about the deceased out of respect for the privacy of the family.
Whitehorse RCMP offered its condolences to the family and friends involved, and recommends that residents avoid Lake Laberge during the investigation, if possible.
