Chamber of Commerce wanted its rep back, but Housing Min Frist says the Board is smaller with two rural members
It doesn't appear that the Town of Watson Lake will be getting back its representative on the Yukon Housing Corporation Board of Directors.
In February Watson Lake Chamber of Commerce Vice President Rick Harder wrote to Housing Minister Pauline Frost expressing concerns regarding the dismissal of Cheryl O' Brien from the Board.
It was right around this time the government drastically changed the Board by not renewing several board member’s terms, in an effort to make the board smaller.
Harder says Yukon Housing has 85 units in Watson Lake saying its important the community have a voice.
After being prompted by CHON-FM on Monday for Frost's response, she wrote to Harder on Tuesday saying the current board has two representatives from rural Yukon, not committing to adding a representative from Watson Lake to the board.
