A search warrant executed on June 5, 2025, resulted in the seizure of ammunition, suspected controlled drugs, and cocaine.
A 31-year-old Watson Lake resident, Payton Semple, has been charged with multiple offences related to a robbery with a firearm.
According to Watson Lake RCMP, the incident occurred on May 23, 2025, when a male suspect allegedly pointed a firearm, assaulted, and stole property from an individual, leaving them injured and hospitalized.
Semple was arrested on June 4, 2025, and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, robbery with a firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Sergeant Jordan Cropper, Detachment Commander of the Watson Lake Detachment, praised the efforts of his team, saying, "Every time an illegal gun or dangerous drug is taken off the street, it's a win for public safety."
Semple was remanded in custody and appeared in court on June 5, 2025. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 6 in Whitehorse
