Silver says an email exchange between the ATIPP coordinator and staff members didn't violate the act as claimed by the Yukon Party.
Premier Sandy Silver says in a statement that an email exchange between an Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPP) coordinator and two staff members wasn't a violation of the ATIPP act that was claimed to be the Yukon Party (YP).
The motion was tabled by the YP in the legislature yesterday, and Silver says exchanges between ATIPP requests must and were directed through the ATIPP coordinator during the email exchange.
An outlined provision of procedures was also clarified by cabinet members in a statement from the premier, and he says this is another inaccuracy recently brought on by YP.
In a press release, the YP also says the Liberal Government has struck down an amended motion that would make it illegal for minister and cabinet start to interfere with ATIPP requests.
The government began reviewing the act in 2015 and addresses issues around digital management and privacy of information.
