New labels will warn about the risks of cancer.
Alcohol sold in the Whitehorse Liquor Store will now have new warning labels with increased awareness about the importance of moderation as well as the health risks of alcohol - including the link between alcohol use and an increased risk of cancer.
The enhanced labels are part of the second phase of the Northern Territories Alcohol Study, which is assessing local attitudes, opinions, and behaviours related to alcohol use and the effect of warning labels.
Over 900 adults participated the survey conducted in the NWT and Yukon. The labels will appear on bottles until the spring.
