Chief Commissioner Marion Buller says budget and time being reassessed.
The Commission examining Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women is responding to an open letter to Chief Marion Buller that it needs additional time and money.
The letter posted late Friday says that the original timelines set by the government are no longer achievable, and that the Commission has begun assessing the need for additional time and budget.
Buller's leadership has been questioned, due to what she says is a weakness in communication.
She admits that the Commission has not properly communicated, saying they have remedied this by hiring Bernee Bolton a Yukon Tlingit to be their Communications Director.
Despite the apparent turmoil within the Commission, it still committing to conducting their first community hearing in Whitehorse May 29th. The commission appears to be wanting to wait until August for its next community hearing.
