The Yukon Coroner's Office has launched an investigation, with an autopsy scheduled
The Whitehorse RCMP has announced that the missing occupant following a single vehicle collision at the Lewes River Bridge has been found.
On September 16, 2024, a pickup truck towing a trailer loaded with vehicles lost control and entered the Yukon River near Lewes River Bridge.
According to RCMP media release, one male passenger exited the vehicle, while Knate Ostenso remained unaccounted for post-collision.
Ostenso was recovered deceased from the Yukon River on October 7, 2024.
While the Whitehorse RCMP appreciates the assistance of Yukon Search and Rescue and Whitehorse Fire Department during the extensive search, the Yukon Coroner's Office has launched an investigation, with an autopsy scheduled.
The RCMP's investigation into the motor vehicle collision is continuing; however, no additional information will be released to maintain respect for the families and the investigation's integrity.
