Players urged to return packages to retail stores for complete refund.
Bingo players affected by Friday's power outage are encouraged to take their bingo packages back to the point of purchase for a full refund and then buy a new package when they are distributed later this week. Softball Yukon Executive Director George Arcand says the power went out for approximately two hours, before the first game was complete, affecting approximately 1000 players.
"We had lost one radio station and within a short order we lost another one. So, we suspended playing bingo before we ever finished the first game, and tried to come back on the air. But by the time we did, the radio stations were going in and out. We made a decision to cancel the bingo, because we were at a point where we had no winners. It was fair to everybody in the territory to just stop it."
The source of the power failure appears to be heavy snow build up at the sub-station in Riverdale. ATCO says power was out to roughly 2200 customers.
