Nils Clarke is the second minister to announce that he will not run for re-election this week alone.
Another Yukon minister has decided not to run for re-election in the 2025 territorial election.
In a media release Friday morning, the Yukon Liberal Party announced that Minister of Environment and Minister of Highways and Public Works Nils Clarke is preparing to conclude his time in elected office.
The Riverdale North MLA was first elected in 2016, and served as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in his previous term.
Clarke said in the release that serving Yukoners has been a great privilege, and that he is proud of his work to protect the environment and build strong infrastructure in the territory.
Clarke is the fourth minster to announce that he will not be running in the territorial election, and the second this week alone. Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn made a similar announcement earlier this week, while Finance Minister Sandy Silver and Economic Development Minister Ranj Pillai both announced that they would not seek re-election when they stepped down as Premier.
The territorial election must be held on or before November 3.
