A search warrant executed at Tucker's residence resulted in the seizure of 3D printed handgun, an unloaded rifle, and 9mm ammunition.
A 25-year-old Dawson City resident, Silver-Lee Vijay Tucker, has been charged with five firearms-related offenses after a midnight shooting incident on April 7, 2025, in the downtown area.
According RCMP media release Moday April 14, the Dawson City RCMP received reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Princess Street and Second Avenue at midnight on April 7, 2025.
Following witness statements, police made an arrest shortly after 12:30 am. A search warrant executed at Tucker's residence resulted in the seizure of 3D printed handgun, an unloaded rifle, and 9mm ammunition.
Tucker faces charges including careless use of a prohibited firearm and unsafe storage. He was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17, 2025.
The RCMP's efforts to combat firearms offenses highlight concerns about "ghost guns" – unmarked and untraceable firearms often manufactured or assembled from parts. According to the Canadian government, it's already illegal to manufacture or possess a firearm without proper licensing.
In recent years, law enforcement agencies have been working to address the growing threat of 3D-printed firearms.
In February 2023, the CBSA and RCMP laid charges in a 3D firearm investigation, seizing a 3D-printed firearm and 40 3D-printed Glock switches.
