Cruise ship company to offer First Nations voice next summer

The ship that will host the First Nation educational content next year.

The cruise ship route will run between Vancouver, Canada and Alaska.

Cunard, a three-ship fleet cruise line that's been operating over 175 years, will have a First Nations voice on one of their cruise ships next year between Vancouver, Canada and Alaska.

Cunard will have their own Queen Elizabeth ship be joined by the Alaska Native Voices, an education institute in the state.

In particular, the Huna Tinglit First Nation will be onboard the ship and their traditional territory resides around Glacier Bay and Icy Strait in Alaska.

Jackie Chase, a spokesperson for the Cunard cruise line, spoke with our own Peter Novak this morning on Cabin Radio spoke about the program in more detail.

Chase says the First Nation will be doing lectures and lessons onboard the ship around their history and culture, including workshops and Q&A's that will be available for all passengers.

She also says the Huna Tlinglit First Nation was chosen as they were a prominent voice and figure around the regions where the ship would be sailing.

The ten-day cruise ship loops will be based out of Vancouver, and the itinerary will include ports such as Victoria, Juneau and Skagway, Alaska.
