This is the second year that First Nations have participated in Yukon Days.
Yukon First Nations are going to Ottawa as part of Yukon Day's celebrations. Leaders from CYFN, Kwanlin Dun, Little Salmon Carmacks, Ta'an Kwach'an Council, Tr'ondek Hwech'in and Vuntut Gwitch'in First Nations, as well as a number of Councillors will comprise the First Nations delegation.
They will be joined by Premier Sandy Silver and several other Cabinet Ministers.
While in the nation's capital, the Chiefs are expected to discuss the dissolution of Indigenous and Northern Affairs, the Porcupine caribou herd and topics around the environment, tourism, housing and child welfare.
Grand Chief Peter Johnston says Chiefs look forward to their meetings with federal officials, while presenting a united voice on joint priority issues. Yukon Days run February 5th and 6th.
