Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Perry Bellegarde says more needs to be done for building a stronger relationship with First Nations in Canada.
In a press release, while Bellegarde says while it's encourage the Federal Government has funded a total of 17 billion dollars in federal funding for First Nations Priorities in the last three federal budgets, more needs to be done.
He says wide gaps in living standards are still prevalent between First Nations and non-First Nations in Canada.
First Nations languages and child welfare are other focuses we wants made by government.
New spending in Budget 2018 accounts more than 297 million dollars for Jordan's Principle, 63 million dollars for Nutrition North over 5 years, and a response to the interim report of the National Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
