Owner of Eldorado Hotel Wants Study Done Before Raising Commercial Water and Sewer Rates

Peter Jenkins says water rate up 13 percent, while sewer spikes 15 percent

A hotel owner in Dawson City has written to Mayor and Council expressing frustration at the increases in commercial water and sewer rates.

Peter Jenkins, owner of the Eldorado Hotel says water rates will jump 13 percent with sewer rates at 15 percent.

Jenkins contends that the City has not conducted a Cost of Service Study on businesses to justify the rates going up.

He suggests that the study could also point to cost saving opportunities.

Jenkins is asking Mayor and Council to rescind the rate increases and reconsider the matter once the study is completed.
