Yukoners can receive up to $1600 in their first year, and another $100 each following year.
The Government of Yukon is expanding Peak Smart initiatives to reduce winter electricity demand.
In a joint media release, the Yukon government and Yukon Energy announced new and enhanced incentives for Yukoners who participate in Yukon Energy’s Peak Smart Home Program that will cover 100 per cent of the cost to purchase and install the required smart thermostats and hot water tank controllers.
According to the release, participants will also receive a $50 sign-up incentive for each type of device enrolled in the program, with an additional $50 incentive each following year.
In the release, the Yukon government says that expanding Peak Smart is one of the practical steps it is taking while it develops the Winter Reliable Energy Plan, which aims to provide Yukoners with reliable and affordable power over the long term.
