Yukon Conservation Officers say Three Bison Died After Falling Off Cliff

Conservation officers in Yukon say three bison have died after apparently falling off a slippery cliff.

Officers from Haines Junction began investigating recently after the animals were found in a remote valley with no sign of human presence.

The conservation officers service says in a Facebook post that it appears the bison were part of a larger herd that started moving downhill covered in snow and ice nearly an inch thick.

They say marks in the snow indicate that the entire herd slid down the hill, but three of the animals went over a steep cliff and died.
