A resident who was transferred to Copper Ridge Place in Whitehorse has tested positive.
The Yukon is reporting it’s first case of COVID-19 in a long-term care facility.
On Sunday, a resident who transferred to Copper Ridge Place from the Whitehorse General Hospital tested positive for the virus.
According to a press release, they are in isolation and otherwise in good health. Residents and staff in the same unit are being monitored and testing as needed. So far, all of those tests came back negative.
The release doesn’t mention the vaccination status of the individual, but it does say that the vaccination rate in Yukon long-term care homes is over 95 percent.
There are a total of five new cases of COVID-19 in the territory.
The active infection count is now at 21, that’s down from the 27 previously reported.
