The Government of Yukon has announced nearly $50,000 in funding for 13 community projects through the Youth Investment Fund. The project aims to provide positive opportunities for youth under 19, promoting confidence, leadership skills, and healthy lifestyles.
According to a media release, initiatives include youth leadership training, substance use prevention, peer mentoring, and recreation programs. The fund supports short-term projects that benefit young Yukoners, with eligible groups able to apply for funding between $500 and $5,000.
This intake's recipients include Boys and Girls Club Yukon, BYTE - Empowering Youth, Freedom Trails Therapeutic Riding Association, Marsh Lake Community Society, Music Yukon, Youth of Today Society, the Town of Faro, and the Town of Watson Lake.
The next application deadline is October 1, 2026. Premier Currie Dixon emphasizes the government's commitment to supporting young Yukoners, who will shape the territory's future. The release says that funded projects will help youth stay active, build self-esteem, and foster positive connections with their communities.
