I think this is a great opportunity for people to get their family and friends out, listen to some good music, enjoy some food and just have some good time
CHON-FM’s 40th anniversary concert venue has been changed from the Shipyard Park due to unforeseen circumstances.
On Saturday September 21st C-Weed Band and Boogey the Beat, both from Winnipeg will join an array of Yukon talents in an all afternoon and all evening music concert in City of Whitehorse as CHON-FM celebrates it’s 40 years in existence, honoring both the past and the present.
The celebration concert originally planned to be held at the Shipyard Park in Whitehorse was abruptly moved to the Rotary Peace Park.
CHON-FM board chair Denise Beattie while speaking to the news, said though venue had to change due to unexpected circumstances, the opportunity to have a good time at the Rotary Peace Park remains unchanged.
"I think people are going to be happy to have a fun event for a chnage. People have been struggling over the last few years for various reasons and we're in recovery mode and we need a good event to help celebrate that. I think this is a great opportunity for people to get their family and friends out, listen to some good music, enjoy some food and just have some good time," Beattie added.
Lined up for celebration is the honoring of CHON-FM founder, the late George Henry (1956-2021) and everyone who has contributed to turning a dream into a reality, and those who continue to nurture that dream.
The concert will be held under a tent in the Rotary Park from 1pm -10pm. Food trucks will be on site and artisans will be selling their crafts inside the tent.
