In one of his last acts as Commissioner, Doug Phillips is presenting a First Nations man with the Governor General's Meritorious Service Award later today.

Gary Bailie is receiving the award for his work in organizing the Blue Feather Festival. Bailie originally organized the yearly event as a tribute to his late wife.

But over the past 16 years, the music festival has brought communities together, inspired and supported youth through music and arts.

The award ceremony will take place at the Kwanlin Koyotes ski chalet at 3:15PM.
