There will be a 25 per cent rebate on tourism packages for Yukoners.
The government has announced details on their Great Yukon Summer Campaign.
The campaign encourages Yukoners to get out and explore the territory and support local business that usually depend on tourism, affected by COVID-19.
There will be a 25 per cent rebate for Yukoners on packaged tourism experiences between June 4 and September 30. People will have to pay full price at first, but they can then submit an application and receipts to get the rebate. They will also have to prove they are a Yukon resident. There are no details on the packages that will be available yet. Tourism companies who provide a package could get $2000 for advertising.
Also, organizers of events already getting funding through the Arts Fund or the Arts Operating Fund could get more money to increase their reach.
The Great Yukon Summer was first promised by the Liberals during the campaign for the 2021 territorial election.
