Eligible tickets include: Expired parking meter fines, and Two-hour zone fines.
The City of Whitehorse is launching its 18th annual Food for Fines Campaign, running from November 26 to December 10. This popular initiative allows residents to donate food instead of paying parking tickets.
Eligible tickets include: Expired parking meter fines, and Two-hour zone fines.
According to a City of Whitehorse media release, Accepted donations include non-perishable food items (canned goods, dried goods, etc.)
These donations will benefit local organizations: Whitehorse Food Bank, Kaushee's Place, and Skookum Jim Friendship Centre
The city will accept donations until December 11. Online payments for eligible tickets will also support this cause.
Since 2005, the Food For Fines Campaign has raised over $101,000 in cash and food donations.
