Fentanyl Deaths Rise to Eight in the Yukon

Coroner's Service say three more confirmed deaths since May 2017.

Yukon's Coroner's Service says fentanyl in the territory is still relevant as there has been three confirmed overdose deaths since May 2017.

Since the fentanyl crisis began in April 2016, Yukon has seen eight confirmed overdose deaths due to the highly lethal opioid.

Acting Chief Coroner Health Jones says toxicology testing and results in some cases are taking up to six months to complete.

Health officials are advising drug users to not use alone.

The territory has also made available for free naloxone kits, in various locations. Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose.
