One person is in the hospital with the variant.
Yukon’s acting Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Catherine Elliott is reporting nine new cases of COVID-19 over the past two days.
Dr. Elliot says that one out of territory resident and one Yukoner have been confirmed to have the Delta variant. According to a press release, “case investigations on these two cases are complete and their contacts are isolating. One person with the Delta variant is in hospital.”
Eight of the new cases are in rural Yukon and one is in Whitehorse.
That puts the territory’s active infection count at 47, that’s up from the 40 previously reported.
Since March of 2020, the territory has seen 668 COVID cases, 608 of which have been since June of this year.
