The collaboration between the Nation and Canagold aims to ensure that development proceeds in a way that prioritizes the protection of the environment and the Nation's interests.
The Taku River Tlingit First Nation and Canagold Resources Ltd. are working together on the proposed New Polaris mine, located in the Nation's traditional territory near Atlin, B.C. TRTFN is ensuring that the project aligns with its values, laws, and responsibilities to protect the land and resources.
According to a media release, TRTFN leaders emphasized that they are not opposed to mining but require that any development complies with their laws and respects their Aboriginal Title and Rights.
While Canagold has committed to following the Nation's consent decision framework, a decision on the project will require approval from a Joint Clan Meeting.
The collaboration between the Nation and Canagold aims to ensure that development proceeds in a way that prioritizes the protection of the environment and the Nation's interests.
Canagold Resources has been working with the Taku River Tlingit First Nation since 2023, demonstrating its commitment to a collaborative approach.
