The project has three separate streams: one to help developers build affordable rental units, one to help developers build new homes for sale, and one to help homeowners build new primary residences.
In a media release, the Village of Haines Junction said that the Dwelling Construction Grant Program will assist residents with building new dwelling units by providing financial assistance for eligible projects, with a maximum grant of $25,000 per dwelling unit.
According to the release, the project has three separate streams: one to help developers build affordable rental units, one to help developers build new homes for sale, and one to help homeowners build new primary residences.
The release says that applications will be reviewed by Village staff and, if approved, awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications for the Dwelling Construction Grant program open on April 22 and remain open until all grant funding is allocated. All construction using the grants must be completed before July 11.
