The Selkirk First Nation Election Committee has declared Jeremy Harper elected as Chief and Rena Simon elected as Youth Councillor, effective February 10, 2026.
The Selkirk First Nation Election Act outlines the nomination process for candidates. Nominations were open to eligible members of the Selkirk First Nation, and candidates were required to submit nomination forms, supported by signatures from eligible voters, during the designated nomination period.
As only one candidate submitted and upheld the required nomination forms for Chief and Youth Councillor, these positions were acclaimed. Elections for other offices will be held on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
According to a media release, a general meeting will take place on April 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. to provide more information.
