The 2018 Whitehorse City Council were sworn in on Monday night at a special council meeting.
A new council was chosen early this month for the city of Whitehorse. They held a special council meeting on Monday Oct 29th to swear-in the successful candidates.
Whitehorse firefighter Honour Guard and bagpipes led the procession into the council chambers, where Justice of the Peace Steve Smyth led the city representatives through their oaths of Athens and Oath of Office.
After the signing of papers, and Mayor Dan Curtis donning the Chain of Office, the councillors assumed their seats, which run from left to right, Samson Hartland, Jan Stick, laura Cabott, Dan Curtis, Steve Roddick, Dan Boyd and Jocelyn Curteanu.
They then proceeded with their first order of business for the meeting, which was Appointing the Deputy Mayor until October 2019.

The second order of business was appointing the reserve Deputy mayor, which will be Jan Stick until April 30th, followed by Samson Hartland for the remainder of the year.
The third official order of business for this special council meeting was appointing the Standing Committees Chair and Vice Chair for the first year. (October 30th, 2018 - Oct 31st, 2019)
