According to a recently published Yukon Bureau of Statistics rent survey, the cost of renting in Whitehorse has increased substantially over the past decade.
Between March of 2009 and April of 2019, the average cost to rent a place in Whitehorse has increased from $752 to $1078. The average cost of a one bedroom place also rose by $258 to $982 and the cost of a two bedroom place rose by $359 to $1161 during that same timeframe in the capital.
In other Yukon towns, the average cost to rent a place in Watson Lake will now cost you $750. In Dawson, the average rent increased by $280 over the last decade and a place there will now cost you $930 on average.
The Yukon Rent Survey conducted the statistics historically on both a semi-annual and quarterly basis to compile the data. The "average rent" definition in the report refers to the sum of rents of all units divided by the total number of units.
