Anyone with information about Tuesday's shooting is asked to call RCMP
RCMP are looking for information related to a shooting on Long Lake Road in Whitehorse in the early hours Monday.
The victim's name has not been released. However, possible names have been circulating on social media.
Whitehorse RCMP responded to a call around 9:30 a.m. on July 10 alerting police that someone on Long Lake Road had been found with a gunshot wound, according to a July 11 news release. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment, and Long Lake Road was closed temporarily for public safety and to collect evidence, the news release said.
Police believe that the shooting took place several hours earlier and was a targeted incident.
Long Lake Road provides access to a few residences, but is mainly used for motorists to access Long Lake, which is particularly popular among Whitehorse residents and visitors in summer, and during this latest heat wave.
Whitehorse RCMP are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of Long Lake Road on July 10 between 1:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., or anyone with video surveillance from Long Lake Road during those hours, to call 867-667-5555.
