Job action will start to occur on Friday at 4pm.
Many Rivers and Counselling Services have issued a strike notice on October 30th and a media release from the Yukon Employees Union says job action will commence Friday, November 2nd at 4pm.
Public Service Alliance of Canada Regional Executive Vice President for the North Jack Bourassa says he's been watching the process develop for a long time.
Regarding the strike notice, he says "It's frustrating that we've reached impasse yet again. The workers have kept their end of the bargain, doing excellent work in support of their communities. We had higher hopes for the employer, but clearly we were wrong."
The union board says its open to renewed talks with the Board of Directors, and still want to reach a finalized agreement to inhibit disruptions and the support they give to their clients.
Many Rivers has offices in Whitehorse, Watson Lake, Haines Junction and Dawson City.
A strike mandate was previously given from the workers in August.
