Yukon RCMP have arrested the suspect of a sexualized assault and vehicle theft in Mayo.
On October 15, 2024, at 11:04 pm, Mayo Detachment responded to a report of a sexualized assault and related motor vehicle collision in Mayo, Yukon.
According to the police, the female driver reported that she intentionally struck a light pole to escape a male perpetrator who had committed a sexualized assault.
Further investigation revealed that earlier that evening, the perpetrator gained unauthorized entry into the victim's residence, committed the assault, and demanded she drive him to Whitehorse. Despite continued assault and attempts to prevent escape, the victim exited the vehicle and sought assistance.
In a media release on Friday, RCMP announced that the suspect had also stolen a Wildland Fire pickup truck, and asked Yukoners to be on the lookout.
