Village Bakery & Deli owners say that their neighbour's made demands without trying to compromise.
The owners of the Village Bakery in Haines Junction are defending themselves against a proposed injunction to limit the volume of the outdoor summer concerts at the venue.
The residents who filed the injunction alleged that concerts in previous years at the Village Bakery were too loud and ran too late, proposing a volume limit of 55 decibels from the closest property and a 9 p.m. cut-off.
Rhonda Powell and Christopher Robinson, the co-owners of the Village Bakery, argue that the community would be at a greater inconvenience than the plaintiffs if the injunction is granted. Powell said in an affidavit that the plaintiffs have not tried to reach a compromise.
Other affidavits against the injunction come from local business owners saying the concerts bring the entire community business, and from musicians saying that the injunction would have a negative impact on the arts community.
