The Tlingit celebration runs from July 28 to 30.
Haa Ḵusteeyí has begun in Atlin! Hosted by Taku River Tlingit First Nation, the three-day celebration began with a sunrise ceremony and welcoming of the canoes this morning, and continues this afternoon with workshops, demonstrations, music, a round of tug-o-war, and an evening feast by Teslin Tlingit Council.
Tomorrow’s schedule continues with workshops, demonstrations, and music on land. There will be a fish filleting contest on the shores of Atlin Lake early in the afternoon, and a canoe race at 3 p.m. Tomorrow’s feast is hosted by Carcross/ Tagish First Nation.
The long-awaited Robe Ceremony begins Sunday at 11 a.m., and there will be an evening feast by Taku River Tlingit First Nation before the closing ceremony.
Healing and Counsellors will be available throughout the celebration.
