20 pound boxes of veggies go on sale at schools starting today.
Farmers, schools and daycares are teaming up to raise money by selling boxes of locally grown vegetables.
The 'From the Ground Up" Program, has raised nearly $250,000 for schools and daycares since 2012.
The money raised helps pay for field trips, home reading books and other equipment for the classroom.
Yukoners have two opportunities to buy a 20-pound box of local vegetables.
Whitehorse and rural schools will sell boxes between September 11 and October 2, and daycares and preschools will sell boxes from November 13 to 24.
Since the program began, 326,000 pounds of vegetables have been sold, with more than 43,000 pounds being donated community organizations.
