Adäka Cultural Festival Postponed

The Yukon First Nations Culture and Tourism Association is sad to announce the postponement of our 10th anniversary Adäka Cultural Festival.

We thank all the applicants and sponsors who committed time, energy and financial support to planning the 2020 Adäka Cultural Festival. Celebrating 10 years is a major accomplishment and we deeply appreciate everyone's interest in sharing talents, ideas and skills with us.

2020 marks ten years since we began the journey to establish Adäka as a première northern Indigenous cultural festival. We intended this to be our biggest and most exciting festival to date, in recognition of all the spectacular artists who have grown with us year by year. However, the safety and wellness of our community must come first at this time.

Katie Johnson, Director of Arts and Adaka Cultural Festival Producer with the Yukon First Nations Culture and Tourism Association feels heartbroken, but believes it is the safest decision.

As our whole community focuses on staying safe during this unprecedented global health crisis, the Yukon First Nations Culture and Tourism Association board and staff have been watching and waiting to see how the situation would unfold for the coming summer.

Johnson says the Association is working on a number of projects to assist artists during these difficult times.

Board and staff members are fully committed to assisting artists and performers through this time of uncertainty. Please follow us on Facebook if you would like to receive updates and if you are an Indigenous Yukon artist or performer interested in applying for funding and require support please call us!

We welcome your ideas too for enhancing our services on-line, all of which will make us stronger in the months and years to come.
