Yukon College rank's third place on Research Infosource LTD. because of Science students like Noah Sternberg who take advantage of the research employment opportunities.
Yukon College continues it's upwards trend in research spending amongst Canadian Colleges according to Research Infosource LTD.
They have been ranked third in number of paid researchers with 38 employed students in 2017.
Comparably sized colleges are ranked and Yukon College has moved up one spot this year list to 15th, taking in $4.9 million in research income.
Parliamentarians this week hosted 3 Yukon College students attending a symposium in Ottawa on Accelerating Innovation through Applied Research.
One researching student Noah Sternberg recently returned and spoke with CHON news about her work developing automated tools so proposed renewable energy projects are tested for safety and reliability.
Sternberg provides real world examples of how researching students are benefiting communities.
They have completed a grid impact study in Old Crow in partnership with the Northern Energy Coalition, ATCO, and Vuntut Gwitch'in Government to bring the solar panel project into existence.
They are now working with Qulliq energy group to integrate renewable energy onto the grid in Arivat and Cape Dorset.
