Yukon's Sound Recording Fund Getting Updated

The Government of Yukon is engaging with the territory’s music industry to update and modernize the Sound Recording Fund. Working directly with music professionals on proposed changes to the fund will ensure the fund is modernized and meets the needs of Yukon’s sound recording industry.

The Government of Yukon is engaging with the territory’s music industry to update and modernize the Sound Recording Fund. Working directly with music professionals on proposed changes to the fund will ensure the fund is modernized and meets the needs of Yukon’s sound recording industry.

Proposed changes include adding the production of video content as an eligible expense, expanding the range of marketing activities and simplifying administrative processes in order to reduce red tape. Comments will be published in a What We Heard report, followed by updated Sound Recording Fund guidelines that reflect the feedback.

Updating the fund will ensure it meets the needs of today’s industry while reducing red tape." Minister of Economic Development Ranj Pillai

 

The purpose of the fund is to support Yukon sound recording professionals to develop viable careers and businesses by making sound recordings in Yukon for broadcast and commercial release.

The Sound Recording Fund was first introduced in 2005. There have been no updates to the fund since then.
