As with the Yukon's latest employment numbers our retail sales figures will not reflect the true impact of COVID-19 restrictions until later.
That according to Gary Brown with the Yukon Bureau of statistics.
He says March's sales in the territory were down just 1. 2 million dollars from a year ago, but nationally the number was down almost 11 percent from a year ago.
Brown says the biggest losers were in the automotive and clothing industries..
Nationally he says The biggest increases happened with dope, booze and food.
The total for retail sales in Yukon for March 2020 was $66.8 million, only a decrease of $1.2 million, to March 2019.
Brown says the COVID-19 restrictions will be reflected more accurately in Yukon in the next few months.
