The Yukon RCMP is making significant strides in enhancing transparency and accountability with the rollout of body-worn cameras to front-line officers.
Launched in late October 2024, the initiative has already equipped approximately 77% of front-line members with BWCs, aiming for 90% deployment by the end of 2025.
In the Yukon, the Whitehorse Detachment was the first to receive the cameras, followed by other detachments such as Carcross and Dawson City.
According to a media release, the force is committed to completing the rollout to all remaining detachments by October, further solidifying its commitment to transparency and community trust.
